Suggest Treatment For Debilitating Chest Pain When Previously Diagnosed With Gastric Bypass

Question: I think I may have Esophagitis. Have chest pains like described but none of the other symptoms . The pains are not debilitating but don't seem to be related to eating. I awoke this morning with the chest pain. I had a gastric bypass three years ago (could they be related?) Three months ago I had a stress test (at my insistence to rule out heart problems) and it turned out great. Should I see a specialist? If so which one? XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
gastroenterologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am glad that you had the stress test and that that was normal.
If it is not coming from your heart then the stomach and esophagus are the next most likely problems. I suggest that you get a referral to see a gastroenterologist. They will probably want to do an upper endoscopy to look at your esophagus and stomach.
Your primary care doctor may also want to do a chest CT. See your doctor for discussion about a CT scan and a referral to gastroenterterologist.
