Question: Good evening.

I am 47 years old with a height of 1.56 and weighing 88kgs. I have degenerating uterine fibroids and i have ovarian cysts too. I have been experiencing lower abdominal and back pains. My CA 125 results shows a level of 270. I would like to know if i should worry about it and how i can lower the CA 125 level. Thank you in advance for your response.

Brief Answer:
CT scan of whole abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After hearing your history as your CA125 is high I would advise you to do a CT Scan of whole abdomen

In general CA 125 is high in case of ovarian cancer

If CT scan detects ovarian cancer then chemotherapy can bring your CA 125 down

Good morning

Thank you for the report. I am very grateful. I discussed the results of my test with my doctor yesterday. He insists that i should have hysterectomy immediately without having a CT scan and has even discussed surgery with the anaesthetic. He insists that I am in danger of having an ovarian cancer. Please advise if it is ok to go ahead with the surgery. I am so confused. This is the first time i am seeing this doctor.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you in advance

Brief Answer:
CT scan first followed by surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi

You need to do CT scan of whole abdomen before going for hysterectomy.

Otherwise if there occurs any complications during surgery it cannot be assesed
