Suggest Treatment For Degenerative Joint Disease In The Knees
Question: I am a 60 year old female with severe bilateral DJD of my knees. I have had it for 20+ years and am not a candidate for surgery because I do not heal very good. I have bilateral BREG braces that I use . . . with either my walker or cane. With this, I have difficulty climbing into and out of the tub due to the side of it. I cannot stand idle for more than 5 minutes at a time because I have severe pain in my lumbar spine due to multiple problems with the discs in my back. Would the degenerative joint disease in my back be related to my bilateral knee condition? Would one of the walk in tubs with the jet propelled water sooth the pain in both knees and back?

Yes madam,
Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well yes both are due to aging and are related to wear and tear associated with aging process . Also they both are commonly found together in same person . I dnt think once a walk in water tub will help out this but there is no harm in trying that , it may differ on individual case basis .

I had aquatic therapy in the pool. Where the water exchange is in a pool, there is water come out, the water pressure when the water exchanged sooth my pain in both knees. Which is basically the same theory of jet propelled water. Would the walk in tub with the jet propelled water also sooth the pain like the pool?

Yes , I agree they will have same effect. so you can try that also but for the same relief the strength should be same at which water is coming out . If strength of jet is different the effect will be different . But anyhow the effect will be overall soothing only .
