
Suggest Treatment For Dengue

Question: My wife is detected with Dengue. She is now currently admitted to hospital. Platelets count is now 90thousands/cubic mm.
what should I do and follow to recover her. Please suggest.

Well it is very common in first 4-6 days of Dengue infection for the platelet count to drop. But after the 6th day the platelet count shall increase by themselves. Till then platelet count has to be monitored daily and if the count goes below 10000 or if there is any bleeding then Platelet transfusion has to be given to her.
Certain fruits like Pomogronate, Kiwi, Papaya Leaf juice can improve platelet count . Hence ask her to take these . Avoid pain killer medications , antibiotics.

thank you so much for the reply. Please let me know if the total or differential count need to be monitored as well.Also anything to be observed to identify any sort of detoriation. & how soon she can resume normal work.

Observe for any bleeding signs like blood from nostrils , gums , urine or motions or genitals.
It may take 4-5 days for her to resume her routine work.
