Brief Answer:
Continuous crying is most likely due to depression

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have complaints of continuous crying and this could be due to underlying depression. You are 71 years old so age related cognitive impairment can also be the aggravating factor for such symptoms.

You have not mentioned which drug you have been prescribed. If you find it convenient then please mention the drug as well as other symptoms if any you are suffering so that I can comment in more detail.

It is common to develop more depressive symptoms during first few weeks of therapy and usually most of antidepressants start showing response in about 4-6 weeks because they cause changes in molecular level in body. So if you have just started taking medicines then for some days you might suffer increase in depressive symptoms but after about a weeks you will feel better.

If possible have diets rich in protein and carbs and low in fats. Take diets rich in OMEGA-3-FATTY acids like Walnuts, Flex seeds, salmon etc. This will help to boost mood and will reduce cognitive impairment.

Try relaxation exercises like Breathing Exercises to keep yourself busy and to reduce crying.

Thanks, hope this helps you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

To cope with patient of Dementia one has to be very strong. As he is having dementia and due to this you might be facing difficulties. in such case following points can help you in improving his situation which will ultimately help in improving your symptoms. Also follow the points which I have mentioned in my last answer-

- First thing is to stimulate his brain which will reduce the progression of dementia. Ask him to play brain stimulation games like Sudoku, Crossword.

- Provide him diets and supplements containing Vitamin E. This is an antioxidant vitamin and this will help to improve his clinical situation. Start giving him Vitamin E soft gels.

- In day times keep the lights of room bright, and if he gets ready ask him to go out for a walk daily at least twice a day.

- Daily light exercise will help to keep him XXXXXXX

- Talk to him as much as you can and this will improve his as well as yours mood.

Now for you I will advise you to spend your time in reading a good motivational book, listen light music. Try relaxation exercises and this will help to keep you relaxed.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Don't hesitate to ask again if you have more doubts.
