First of all let me clarify about masturbation.
Masturbation is natural and normal thing.It is done by 95% of the males in the world,mostly before marriage as well as when wife is away, in menses or pregnant after marriage. As I already described that masturbation is stress relieving. You also mentioned that you feel more fun. Gradually in stress you became habitual and addicted to masturbation.(For example: when person uses alcohol to relieve stress,he gradually becomes addicted to the same and later on suffers from alcohol related health problems. In this case we need deaddcition from alcohol as well as treatment for that stress also which has induced alcohol intake.)
Yes long hours of masturbation of course can cause fatigue but not mood swings probably.How this habit started that is to be evaluated. You told that initially problem in sex and then thyroid problem created stress in your life and then masturbation increased.This means stress was before you engaged in masturbation excessively.
Stopping masturbation of course will help. It will save your energy and timing which you can use in other daily routine activities, at your work and with your wife.I appreciate your attitude and willing power. There is nothing wrong in dong sex by seeing porn. According to different survey 30 to 60% of males watch porn during their lifetime. So it is totally personal thinking that it is wrong or not. But in my opinion it is not harmful or guilt producing.Only addiction to porn and involvement in unsafe sexual practices are harmful.
