Brief Answer: Depression Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. From what you have stated it is quite clear that she is having a depressive episode. Depression can occur with regular stress and it can also occur biologically without any stress as well. She will need proper treatment for the same. There are various effective therapies for depression like fluoxetine, venlafaxine, bupropion, mirtazapine or escitalopram and they are all very effective and mostly safe. You may also require some benzodiazepines like clonazepam or lorazepam for a short period like 2-3 weeks to reduce the anxiety and help with your sleep. If she is averse to the drug therapies then there is also an option of cognitive behavioural therapy. This therapy is taken by either a psychologist or a psychiatrist in which the therapist identifies impaired cognitions (Thoughts) and try to correct them. They are 15-20 min weekly session and there should be around 8-10 sessions to help you with your illness. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. Brief Answer: Dr. XXXXXXX Parmar Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the follow-up. According to the general conditions you have stated, it appears that she has some gastritis and this will need medicines such as ranitidine. However with this health condition, she can be treated for depression. As health care magic is an online forum, legally we are not supposed to prescribe medications without physically examining you. Such regulation are primarily meant for the safety of the patients as well as the Doctor. Further any prescription given in E-mail will not be honored by the pharmacy in your country. Sincere apologies for the same. But for similar patients whom I attend in my clinic, I prefer to start them on Fluoxetine 20mg in morning with Clonazepam 0.5mg at night. I ask them to take it after food and they need to continue this for atleast 6-7 months. I know a very nice psychiatrist in Noida who can take care of you. You may contact: Dr. XXXXXXX Parmar XXXXXXX Consultant Psychiatrist Yathart Wellness Super Speciality Hospital and Heart Centre, Sec 110, Noida. Monday to Saturday; 5 pm to 6 pm. Hope I am able to help you with your concerns, If you need any further clarifications, do let me know. Kind regards Dr. Srikanth Reddy MD
