Suggest Treatment For Diabetic Neuropathy

Question: I have type 1 diabetic. I have had it for 63 years. Everything works except my stomach. I am always constipated. I have gone threw all the tests and the only thing they tell me is I have stomach neuropathy. Eat more fiber, take mirapax (sp?), all the same answers. I started taking an enema every morning and am feeling great. My A1C's are mid 6's. Are enemas all that bad for a person with extreme constipation?
Brief Answer:
Please rule out other causes
Detailed Answer:
Good day
Note Your Concern. Sorry to hear about your symptoms. I agree that diabetic neuropathy associated gastroparesis and constipation are hard to treat. Frequent enemas may cause some electrolyte imbalance. You may need to rule out other causes of chronic constipation.First thing is to rule out hypothyroidism which can cause constipation.
Second is to consider a colonoscopy to rule out other causes of constipation.
