Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain While Taking Aspirin
Question: I take a lot of aspirin for pain from herniated discs and headaches. I do not like prescription pain killers like Vicodin makes me feel weird. I always eat when I take aspirin but sometimes my stomach hurts. They gave me nexium but made me have diarrhea. What is the best over the counter ppi to take. I was going to try Prilosec twice a day thank you

Regular usage of NSAIDS like Aspirin will cause gastric mucosal erosion leading to various symptoms including stomach ache. Therefore we usually prescribe an Antacid like Proton pump inhibitors.
One of PPI is Omeprazole which is the ingradient in Prilosec (trade name).
I would suggest you to take 20mg one tablet daily, half an hour to one hour before breakfast. You can take it as long as you are taking aspirin. It won't cause any dangerous side effects.
