default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: Hi I have had these symptoms since wed 23rd. Started with severe diarrhoea and sickness high temperature and incredibly tired very weak bed bound, felt better on the saturday picked at food, better Sunday 27th and ate well. Went to doctor 28th as symptoms began again with diarrhoea and feeling really sick was sick once. I was perscribed Buscopan four times daily and cyclizine 50mg three times daily. Took a few days to work and symptoms started to get better felt better 30th. Today I have had a watery diarrhoea motion. Just once. Tummy feels tender low down and very bloated low dull pain, not severe and not feeling sick. What could this be? Should I go back to the doctor and how long should I take the medication for? Thank you for your time.

There are a few things to be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

The way your symptoms started with fever lethargy, malaise and diarrhea, what you got was most probably viral infection of the gut. Thankfully it subsided with time , now you have got a single episode of diarrhea it can be two things.

1) Irritated gut by that old infection.
2) New or that same infection teasing.

Now here are the steps I would suggest you to take.
1) Start high fibre diet.
2) Drink much water with salt replacement.
3) Repeat emodium.
4) Continue taking Buscopan Cyclizine with same schedule as before.
5) Observe closely , the frequency , water content and lethargy symptoms of diarrhea.
6) If it gets worsened, in one day do contact your doctor .
If it gets better then with time hopefully your immune system will recover from the infection by itself.

Don't panic just keep a close look.

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.
