Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Occasional Vomiting
Antiemetics and ORS are to be given.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through the details and understand your concerns. But let me mention that such symptoms often occur due to viral cause where antibiotics are ineffective. Even if it is bacterial gastroenteritis, the cause is self limiting and unless associated with bloody diarrhoea, it does not need to be treated with antibiotics. Irrespective of the use of antibiotics, it should take around 5 days to recover. But if you start an antibiotic you must complete the course of 5 days. You have not done the right thing by jumping antibiotics. However, please continue the ongoing antibiotic and complete the full course.
The mainstay of treatment in such a condition is ORS or oral rehydration solution which you are already giving. Antiemetics like ondansetron will help in reducing the vomiting. The stool frequency will reduce on its own and nothing needs to be done about it. Just continue replenishing for the lost salts and fluids and your daughter would soon be fine.
