Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea While On Namenda XR

Question: Our doctor prescribed NamendaXR for my husband on Sat. Sunday was hie first does. By evening his sugar went up to 220 (usually about 120) and he was agitated. This morning his sugar was 260 and he has diahrea . I noticed online that it says not to prescribe if having trouble with bladder. He cannot empty his bladder completely and has an urgency to go (no infection). Our doctor also gave him a perscription to fill today for the bladder problem. I don't dare give him another Namenda.XR . What should I do?

NamendaXR is used in the treatment of dementia. It does not raise blood sugar nor is it associated with urinary retention. He should continue the medication if your doctor has advised against stopping it.
What medication did your doctor advise for treating the retention.
Was it the first episode of retention.
