Suggest Treatment For Diarrhoea, Abdominal Pain And Sudden Weight Loss While On Cipro

Question: I have been having bouts of diaherra with the stool being milky beige in color. I had a colon and bowel infection in September, 2015, and was treated with Cipro antibiotics for 2 weeks. The stomach and intestinal pain lasted about 6 weeks. CT scan showed signs of bacterial infection and inflammation. Two weeks ago I started having these bouts of diaherra which subsides partially when I eat or drink very little. Bread, crackers, mild tea, water. Can you advise me as to what may be causing this? Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy has to be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Your symptoms can be caused by several issues including inflammatory bowels disease or partial bowels obstruction due to colon tumor.
For sure, you can not wait with this symptoms. At your age (over 50) the risk of large intestine malignancies significantly rises. Diarrhea, abdominal pain (especially cramps), weight loss are common signs of such issue.
Unfortunately CT may not diagnose this conditions.
That is why it is strongly advisable for you to have colonoscopy done. Please ask your doctor to do it as soon as possible.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
