Suggest Treatment For Diarrhoea Along With Vomiting
Question: Question for a paediatrician - My daughter is vomiting since yesterday afternoon. She woke up from her post lunch nap and threw up. Since then she threw out even a sip of water until evening. Her paediatrician gave her Domperidone Oral drops (Motinorm) to take before meals. Last night she took a glass of pediasure with water, vomited a part again but slept well through the night. In the morning she seemed to have appetite, but same story. Drank pediasure but threw out the last part while drinking water. Since then she has been fast asleep. I plan to give her ORS when she wakes up. She was having cough since last week and was under medication. The doctor said yesterday that the congestion is very mild. Wondering what could have caused it and what could relieve her.

Hi...Looks like a viral diarrhea might start. Usually it will start with vomiting and then the kid starts getting diarrhea.
Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
If there is diarrhea - I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment.

If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your paediatrician).
Regarding diet - Avoid fruit juices as they might aggravate diarrhea. You can give zinc supplements & ORS apart from normal vegetarian porridges & soups.
