Suggest Treatment For Diarrhoea In Toddler

Question: Hi. My toddler woke up last Saturday with a runny nose and within 20 minutes of having his usual breakfast, he had a large, yellow, runny and smelly diaper. This has continued one and off after every meal or sometimes in the middle of the night. In addition, a few times he has vomited during his meal. He has no fever, is active and lively and has his appetite so am wondering what this could be and how long it will last (I'm on day 5). His nursery won't take him while he has diarrhoea like diapers.
Brief Answer:
Runny Nose
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
This is very common in toddler's. The symptoms you describe are typical for a viral illness. The absence of fever, and his activity level, support this diagnosis. Virall illnesses last approximately 7-10 days, usually reaching their peak in the 4th or 5th day before improving.
If the symptoms worsen beyond one week, or he he develops a fever, or if his activity level or appetite decrease, I recommend consulting with your doctor. Otherwise, you can wait it out a few more days. It will likely resolve in it's own.
