Question: I AM BEING TREATED FOR ALLERGIES. AM VERY SURE MOLD IS MY PROBLEM, BREATHING PROBLEMS, TICKLE IN THROAT, COUGHING, NOSE STUFFED UP, FLEM IN THROAT, HARD AT TIMES TO COUGH IT UP.
AM ONE STEROIDS, ONLY 5 DAYS, 2 DAY. ALSO TAKING LEVOFLOXACIN, 750 MG...ONE A DAY FOR 5 DAYS.

1. Allergy is really a fastidious health problem for everyone. Allergy testing is advised to understand what is causing allergy to you (whether mold only or other factors).
2. Steroids are good medications to reduce allergy inflammation; while levofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that will help fight infections of respiratory tract that are often associated with allergies.
3. Apart of these medications, I also advise my patients with the same problems as you to take:
- anti-histaminic medication at night
- aerosol-therapy
- allergy nasal pump
- bronchodilatator (ventolin) spray/pill as needed
Avoiding contact with allergen is also recommended. That's why it is important to determine what is causing allergy and from what to avoid the exposure.
