Question: Hi I am 24 years old. We got married 33 months ago and I was on Femilon for first 24 months. 6 months ago doctor identified PCOD and treated for 2 months. Used Diane tablet. Last 3 months period was regular (Had 28 days cycle) and this month I am on 36th day without period. Checked with home pregnancy urine test and it was negative this morning.

Since last 6 months we are trying for pregnancy. What could be the problem now? PCOD again or should I still hope for pregnancy this cycle? Using Consevel tablet daily 1 since last 4 months. No weight gain recently.

Brief Answer:
Urine pregnancy test need to be repeated

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the delay in period might be due to pcod causing irregular cycles.
Usually the urine pregnancy test gives accurate results a week after missed period.
As the test is negative consider repeating the test after a week if the period doesn't occur meanwhile.
The chances of pregnancy causing this situation are less but anyways confirm by repeating the test.
In case of overweight or obesity weight reduction is most important in PCOD.
Even 10% weight loss might make the cycles regular.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.

Thank you very much dear doctor for the answer. I appreciate this. My follow up question below please.

''The chances of pregnancy causing this situation are less but anyways confirm by repeating the test.''

I didn't understand the above can you please explain.

My PCOD was treated in April and May and had regular periods since then every 28-30 days last 4 months. I'm maintaing same weigh of 58 kg since last 6 months. I'm on 36th day today and it was negative. I presume my ovulation was around 20 days ago. Does the result be usually accurate at this time? What do you think is the possibility of pregnancy? Will I have any symptoms now?

Please answer.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Avoid stress

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I would be very happy to explain you regarding your condition.
It is good that weight is constant since a few months but being appropriate weight in relation to height is important. For example if you are 160cm then optimum weight is 160-100= 60kg.(ie.,height in cm- 100).
In my opinion the ovulation occurs 14 days prior to expected date of period. And this is constant.
I mean to say that if the pregnancy has occurred by now it would have been atleast weakly positive.
As the test is negative the chances of conception are less.
So for now it seems like the delayed period might not be due to pregnancy.
Repetition of test after a week confirms the cause of delay.Delayed conception might cause positive results later.
We might not be able to predict the ovulation due to negative test and delayed period.
The symptoms of pregnancy like nausea, vomiting, increased urination ,sore breast start 2 weeks of missed period. So it is too early to feel any symptoms.
But I assure PCOD is one of the treatable causes of infertility.
As there is absence or irregular ovulation leading to irregular cycles in PCOD the ovulation induction drugs like clomiphene with or without HCG injection gives good results.
Laparoscopic ovarian drilling also confers good results in PCOD.
So avoid stress and anxiety regarding pregnancy because even they might cause hormonal imbalance leading to irregular periods and infertility. So relax.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
