Posted on Wed, 11 Feb 2015
Question: I was under injectables this cycle and after hcg shot i got OHSS but my follicles dint rupture. Its been 11 days sibce hcg shot and my ovaries are 130 and 135cc each. And pid fluid is 89cc. My ovaries measure almost 8 cms.. i have extreme discomfort in my abs and slightly take longer breaths. My doc checked my hb and pcv it was 13.8 and 41.5 and she gave 2 bottles of drips for discomfort to come down. However she also insisted that fluid in ovariea ll automatically reduce . I am wondering how long does it take?coz i m hating this discomfort. She advised 5 days rest as well. Did overdose of hmg and fsh cause OHSS?do u thinky doc shud have given lighter doses since this was my firsy injectable cycles to understand how my body reacts?? This isnt something to worry abput rt?my symptoms?? And my ovarian size n volume is only increasing so far each time i scan . When and how will it start reducing on its own given there is no med for this ??

Brief Answer:
Please follow instructions mentioned below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand that you are having discomfort due to OHSS. Excess dosage of FSH would have caused OHSS.

Your PCOS status also might have lead to OHSS. Since there is no fluid in the abdomen which means there is no danger and will subside soon. This is unlikely to develop in to serious or major OHSS complications.

Meanwhile please follow instructions below:

1) Drink lot of water.

2) Keep measuring urine output. If reduced let your doctor know.

3) Eat 2 egg whites daily. This will improve proteins in the body.

4) Ask your doctor to prescribe tabet Cabgolin 0.5 mg daily for next 10 days.

5) Let me know which city you are living in so that I can refer you to a good IVF specialist who can handle the complications if they arise.

I live in South XXXXXXX and due to distance issue I couldn't visit you . Can you let me know about milaan fertility centre (dr kaamini rao) or gunasheela nursing home (dr madhvi)? So that i can change my doc next time ?? Since i got these symptoms n my doc is a good gynec but not an infertility specialist i wanna change doc to a better specialist to avoid so many side effects . Since i live in South blore i prefer good fertility centres in South as i also go to v work and need to manage time for frequent follow ups that is a part of infertility treatment. ..
