Suggest Treatment For Discomfort In The Upper Abdominal Area
Question: Hi, thank you.
52 years old female, started discomfort in upper abdomen discomfort last night, made worse by laying down. I could not sleep at all. Better, now sitting up, but pressure, pain and some radiating to around my back under right shoulder blade. Heart is fine...I exercise regularly. I have not eaten today. No vomiting, no diarrhea.
Just took my temp it is 99.3.

You should get an Ultrasound abdomen.

Hi
As per your description,the symptoms could be related to Gall bladder disease,most probably Gall stones.Ultraound abdomen will give a clue.
Please consult your doctor and get an Ultrasound abdomen.
If it is normal,acid peptic disease has to be excluded by Upper GI endoscopy.
Till investigations,I prescribe Proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole and antispasmodic Dicyclomine to my patients with similar complaints.
