Suggest Treatment For Dissociative Amnesia While Having Anxiety
Question: I've had this problem for over a year now, where I have been dissociating rather badly, been vacantly staring at objects for minutes at a time (also having trouble sleeping and staring at the ceiling for at least four hours), memory spots where I can forget what I had been currently doing or thinking within seconds. I did have severe childhood trauma, both sexually abusive and physically abusive and growing up I didnt give it much thought. Now being 21, I find myself with physically and mentally abusive traumas in relationships similar to childhood and the dissociating becoming much, much worse over the months. I have moments when I'm messaging someone and I feel like I have fallen asleep, but scrolling through messages I had been typing to them in a tone I don't associate with myself. I'm scared to talk to my parents or anyone about this and my nearest psychiatrist is 60+ miles from me, so it's inconvenient for a Nightshift worker. Please can you help with the details I've given, as I'm very scared and I don't know what I can do about this...
Brief Answer:
Taking anti anxiety pill can be helpful
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for Using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns
Presence of dissociative process is part of anxiety and well related to it. It occurs without control of individual and there is much scope of antianxiety medications.
I understand your fears but it is again another manifestation of anxiety disorder which can be helped with antianxiety medications.
In case you have any benzodiazepines such as xanax, valium or ativan or clonazepam you can take one low dose pill of any of these medications for dissociation control.
I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

The problem with these medications is that I will be unable to drive or perform at my nightshift, as they're all known to cause drowsiness and even sight blurriness which I already struggle with.
I'm not much of an anxious person, but I'm really highly concerned about the memory loss that wasn't explained and even detachment from oneself - which is my biggest concern since my job is highly dependent on my performance...
I'm often chatting away to myself and 'get an answer' back from 'myself', and for those around me it does bring strain to relationships. This also brings me back to the other unanswered question about messaging my friends, while thinking I was actually asleep but everything being in a different tone?

Brief Answer:
Many of the symptoms are contributed by inattention
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.
I am sorry to know that my answer was far from satisfaction and recommended strategy i not much useful in your case due to night shift and side effects.
Regarding the memory loss the most likely explanation lies with dissociation and its pathology. As we are aware that dissociation operates at the level of subconsciousness through the different mechanisms such as repression many of the already memorized things vanish along with those trauma thoughts or in other words they inter tangle with something which we do not want to keep in memory.
The other symptoms like chatting to self, and have different attitude toward relationships leading to strain relationship could be cause as well as manifestation of dissociation. In addition inattention also plays a great role in few of the symptoms particularly memory loss and getting an answer from self.
For the management in this condition some form of yoga can assist you. I am narrating down one of the effective way to control the dissociation.
Isolate yourself from all kinds of stimulations (it could be separate room) and start doing deep breathing. See the watch and have a respiratory cycle of 10-12 seconds. This can be done in simple way by deep inhalation and slow exhalation.
While doing this concentrate yourself on breath and achieve a state where you are aware of your breath moving in and out but nothing else.
Within a period of 10-15 minutes you will see a good control over the random thoughts and dissociation's and you will feel that you are at the control.
I hope this assists you.
If you have more questions I will be glad to assist you further.
