Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Swollen Legs
Question: Symptoms: dizziness,no strength, tired, balance decreased, mentally feels as if in left field. Have questioned b/p meds and a fib meds and changed them, but still feel the same. My life is nothing as before all the cardio meds (one year now). I do see an electro radiologist for my a fib . My left leg is very swollen and larger than my right which is some swollen ( all below my knees). I feel I cannot go on in this state any longer. And now I don't even wish to return to my physicians, knowing how frustrated they are with me.

Dx: Obstructive sleep apnea (long time CPAP user); Hypertension, accelerated, Edema of lower extremities (R ankle 13", R foot 12", R calf 18" L ankle 14", L foot 13", L calf 20")Blood glucose elevated, atrial fibrillation, primary osteoarthritis of both knees, morbid obesity, memory impairment. Takes Furosemide 40mg, TID and edema does not change. All areas of left leg have pitting edema, lasting 2 sec. Appears that this and all but one below are generic and wondering if that could be a cause of continued swelling.
Other medications: Xarelto 20mg 1/day; Donepezel HCL 10mg, just began with 1/2 tablet/day; Omeprazole DR 20mg CER 1/day; Lisinopril 20mg 2/day; Cartia XT 180 mg 1/day.
Recent vitals (June 22, "15): Ht: 5'6", 196 lbs, BMI 47.78
Tonight's BP: 173/89 pulse 77.
Can you tell me if the generic for Lasix could be causing me to feel so badly. Side effects on line seem to list many of my symtoms. And do any of my medication work against one another? Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Possibly drug effects.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing details.
Though you have several comorbidities but your present symptoms appear to be related to medicines, according to the history given by you.
Out of the medicines you are taking, several can cause these symptoms. Donepezil can commonly be associated with these.Likewise,Lisinopril can cause these symptoms, often.
Lasix can result in hypokalemia and hypocalcemia which in turn can result in such symptoms.I hereby, suggest you to get these investigations done-
1)Serum electrolytes
2)Serum calcium
and follow-up with the results.
Xarelto and Cartia XT are less likely to cause these symptoms.
So,I think you are the best judge to correlate that after starting which medicine, symptoms aggravated most.
Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.

Thank you for being there. Had to go to bed after last night's question.
One more question: Do you feel that the generics are OK or should I be on the actual BP medication as taking Lasix instead of Furosemide or Zestril instead of
Lisinopril? Thank you, XXXX
