Suggest Treatment For Dizziness, Nausea And Muscle Weakness

Question: My husband was just diagnosed with softening of the brain, which I assume means Encephalomalacia. He was just told yesterday and hasn't exactly shared anything with me. I found out through a family member. He had a fusion replacement which went bad. He lost 17 units of blood when his iliac vein was severed. He attempted a spinal stimulator the following year which resulted in a clot requiring it to be removed. He was paralyzed and had started to show great improvement after 4 months. Suddenly, he lost leg strength, has bouts of instability, muscle weakness, and dizziness. He went from barely sleeping 3 hours a night to sleeping 9-10 hours without any problem. The doctor ordered the CT scan or MRI (I honestly can't remember which there have been so many tests). That is when she called him in and told him of the softening of the brain and strongly recommended he see a neurologist ASAP. There are so man letters behind doctor's names, I just want to know if an MD specializing in neurology is the right one.
Brief Answer:
MD neurologist
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear about your husband. With the abnormal findings on his scans he needs to see a specialist board certified in neurology. You should be able to do a google search for neurologists in your area. They will need to be board certified. They have had special training in neurology and this is the best place to take your husband for evaluation.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
