Brief Answer:
Sounds like you have broncho-pneumonia

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I see that you have had a cough for more than a week now. That sounds like you might have a bacterial infection in the lung. The ideal way of treating this is to do the following:

1) Get a chest x-ray to try see which ares of the lung are infected.
2) Steam inhalation to help soften the phlegm that has built up in the airways.
3) OTC syrups like TusQ during the day 3 times a day, and A syrup like TusQ-D once at night before bed. The "D" in TusQ-D stands for Dextromethrophan, which would make you sleepy but helps cut the cough.

3) A course of antibiotics. As a first line antibiotic, I would suggest Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day for a week. This is a prescription medication. So take your x-ray and go to a doc to get a checkup as well as the prescription.

This should deal with your issue in an organized and safe fashion.

I hope this helps,

Vinay
