Suggest Treatment For Dry Skin And Fatigue

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Feb 2016
Question: I have extremely dry skin, the last few days inside my elbow crease has been swollen and itchy with no relief from Benadryl, I also have high levels of B12 (over 3000), painful joints, muscle cramps in thighs and biceps, dizziness, and overall fatigue. The dr I've been seeing has been treating symptoms instead of the overall poor health I feel. Also tells me B12 is water soluble and my body will take care of it. All my symptoms and the high B12 has been going on for three months. Any ideas???

Brief Answer:
Dryness could be because of eczema.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to the HCM.
Dear dry skin and itchiness could be because of eczema ( a common skin condition ) for which using emolients and moisturizing creams 2 to three times a day can be helpfull .And avoid using soap.If dryness and itchiness persist even after using emolients and moisturizers then low intensity steroid cream can be helpfull.

For high level of vitamin B12 first I would like to ask ,when was the last time you got checked your vit.B12 level and are you taking any multivitamin supplement or injection ?
if any pls let me know. One more question I want to ask that in your medical history you have mentioned that you are having high blood pressure but from reading it seems it is infact low blood pressure reading??90/60mmhg.
And could you please tell me the content of tablet benicia?
If I could know the answers of above question ,it will help me to clarify you more about your question and I will be happy to help you further.

it is Benicar 10MG. I have not taken any supplements, shots of B12. I had my blood work done Oct. 2 and again Dec 3. My B12 was over 2000 in Oct. and over 3000 in Dec. my muscles cramp up regularly which is why I went to the Dr. I assumed I was dehydrated but was not. The high B12 was all that was found.

Brief Answer:
Need some investigations to be done.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for writing again.

Dear, since benicar is antihypertensive and some time can cause low B.P 90/60,for that I would suggest to keep checking your blood pressure for one week ,if it comes low then the dose of medicine can be adjusted accordingly.

Since vitamin B12 is water soluble and if in case is taken as supplements or in food with high level , it gets easily eliminated from body and cause no major consequences .

But as you have mentioned that you have not been taking any supplements then other factors have to be evaluated which cause increased vitamin B12 level in body with these symptoms. For example deranged liver function, kidney function and blood cells function.

For that you may need liver function test, kidney profile and complete blood count tests to be done to evaluate any underlying problem and then it can be treated accordingly.

Hopefully my answer will be helpfull for you, please do not hesitate to ask further.

I will be happy to help.
Regards.
