default
Posted on Thu, 3 Nov 2016
Question: I fall sick often due to allergy and then by using pump, I feel all good. I tried Homeopath and last year it worked really well, but this year, it didn't help me too.
Because of Allergy, I feel redness/dryness in my eyes and also so much dandruff in my hairs.
What to do please?

Brief Answer:
Also take combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of asthma is more.
Best treatment for asthma is inhaled treatment (pump).
Along with this, you should also take combination of antihistamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and anti allergic (montelukast).
This will help you more in relieving symptoms.
Also let me know which pump you are using so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thanks so much for reply.

I am attaching my last prescription which includes pump details as well. My Doctor told me to continue with pump even if I am all right and said that this is all safe in contrast to other beliefs. Could you please let me know if taking pump is safe even if I am all well?

One more thing to call out is that my nose is mostly blocked during night (I get some relief only when I lay on the side and not straight) which results me breathing through throat and in the morning I feel little bit of uneasiness in my throat which goes away after I drink some warm water.

I went for whole homeopathy last year and felt good even went to hill station without any issues until I fell sick again this year(after leaving homeopathy medicine for almost 6 moths). Should I go for homeopathy and is homeopath the permanent and safe treatment or there is some in allopathy as well?

Thanks again for the guidelines here.

Brief Answer:
There are better inhalers available than aerocort.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the prescription you have attached.
You are taking aerocort inhaler.
There are better inhalers available than aerocort now a days.
Aerocort is having levosalbutamol and beclomethasone. Both are less potent and short acting drugs.
Newer well improved drugs like formoterol and budesonide are easily available as combination and are now preferred drug of choice for asthma.
So better to try these drugs.
Honestly speaking, I have no idea about homeopathic treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Yes some of it is answered, however if you could please reply on following too:
1. Daily usage of pump is OK even of I am feeling well?
2. If I have to replace aerocort, what is that which I should be taking and if answer to #1 above is yes?
3. What to do to relieve nose blocking without side effects as It is uneasy for me? I am also feeling heavy head too.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you should take inhaler twice daily even if you are not having symptom

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, you should definitely take inhaler regularly (twice daily) even if you are not having symptoms.
Instead of aerocort, you should take either budamate or foracort or formonide or budetrol or fomtide.
All these are having formoterol (6 micrograms) and budesonide (200micrograms).
You can take any of the available in your city.
In asthma, you should taper down inhaler dose every 3-4 months.
So for initial 3-4 months you have to take inhaler twice daily despite of improvement in symptoms.
After 3-4 months, we can taper budesonide to 100 micrograms and then gradually to budesonide only.
So this taper down process should lasts for 1 year.
For your nose problems, I think you will need intranasal steroid spray containing fluticasone.
Also take combination of levocetrizine or fexofenadine and montelukast.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
