Suggest Treatment For Dukes C1 Other Chemotherapy
Question: My dad had surgery to remove a cancer in the bowel. He was told it is dukes c1. However he has refused chemo .
Is there any other treatment?
Is there any other treatment?
Brief Answer:
Detailed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Dukes C1 means that there a metastases in lymph nodes. In simple words, the disease has gotten out of the tumor. There is almost sure that some cancer cells were left. Chemotherapy is the only way to eliminate the cells which has been left. Otherwise his chances to survive are low.
If it is a rectum cancer, radiotherapy can be considered. If the location is in other part of large intestine, chemo is the only chance.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Detailed Answer:
There is no cancer in other parts of the intestine but for sure there are cancer cells in lymph nodes. Liver meths are also possible (do not have to be visible yet).
Immunotherapy can be tried. But please note that many clinical trials has proven that it might be not effective.
So if he can not take standard chemo, he may try it (as there is nothing to loose). But do not put much hope in it.
Regards.

Yes, chemo is a kind of toxic for the human body. So side effects are almost always present. It is because it affects all body cells, not only cancer cells.
Yes even with chemo there might be some cells left. It is very individual. Some cancers has great response for the chemo, other wont respond at all.
But the chances of 5 years survival are much higher with chemo (about 50% in C1). Without chemo, it may be about 10%.

If he refuses chemo, sooner or later the cancer will regrow or meths will appear. No doubt in that.
I know that internet has many great ideas on how to cure cancer without chemo. But please believe me, this ways (including curcumin) are ineffective. The people who invent this things (like curcumin) overuse the situation of sick people who will do everything to get healed.
Curcumin and barley grass wont heal the cancer. They can improve general condition (as contain vitamins). But same effect can be achieved with vegetables intake.
I wish I could give you some solution that would really help. But there is no such.
