Question: I have a dull pain under my ribcage on the left side between my back and side. It is not sharp; it is, though, sensitive to the touch. Also, it seems swollen.
Hi

Is there anything i can do to relieve? I am in hoapice (not a patient) amd talked with one of our RNs; she said it could possibly be something with my spleen after I explain where the pain was. I don't know if it matters, but I am in marketing and constantly carrying heavy bags. I also have osteoporosis; I would just like you to know all the details. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Likely musculoskeletal
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
i read your question and i understand your concern. Pain in left hypochondrium with history of heavy weight and supplies lifting is likely a musculoskeletal one. Your Registered nurse guess is shooting in the blanks and unlikely as such for a spleen.
However age of 36 mentioned is too old to have osteoporosis and should be evaluated. Calcium, vitamin D levels and bone absorption studies should be done to evaluate the status.
Meanwhile avoid lifting heavy weights, rest for a while, apply topical NSAIDS o take some oral ones, Ibuprofen with skelaxin is a good choice. Take some antacids like pepto as well as some time a gastric pain may be masked by such musculoskeletal pain in that zone as that presents there too.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
