Brief Answer:
Is dysautonomia confirmed? If yes what is the cause?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have just wanted to know that -How does the clinical state of dysautonomia was confirmed?Did your son undergo any autonomic function testing to establish dysautonomia?

If dysautonomia was established, what was the cause for it?I mean there can be a long list for the causes of dysautonomia. He must have undergone some investigations to reveal the cause for the same.Is it so?

Please provide the details so that I can answer your query better.

Though after reading your another queries answered by the fellow experts,I assume that he has not undergone any major testing.I suggest that he must be evaluated for-
1)Postural blood pressure drop
2)Tilt table test
3)Quantitative sudomotor axonal reflex testing(QSART)

These investigations can be confirmatory for autonomic dysfunction.Once confirmed,we can actually look for the etiology as without knowing the etiology we can't treat it.Evaluating for the etiology will need further investigations.

If this satisfies your query, please close the thread and rate it else please be in follow-up with the details I asked and I shall be glad to answer your query further.

My son met with a pediatric cardiologist who took his BP laying, sitting and standing. Laying the BP was 105/50, sitting was 110/49 and standing was 116/70. They never explained what this meant?
Cardiologist did a 2D electrocardiogram and said blood flow, valves, etc looked great. Ekg normal.
Son's blood pressure is all over the place, staying low most of the time. I think after seeing the endocrinologist, neurologist and cardiologist, they he come to the conclusion of dysautonmia based on daily symptoms of:
Extreme dizziness
Extreme fatigue
Diarrhea
Sweating, temperature regulation problems
Low blood pressure
Seeing floaters 24/7
Frequent bladder pain and urination
Chest pain
He had blood work done, everything normal.
Endocrinologist wants to see him back in July for another A1-C test, it was 5.7 taken last week.
Otherwise , no other tests.

Brief Answer:
It means there is no postural drop. However, symptoms are suggestive.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

These blood pressure recordings in standing, laying and standing posture suggest that there is no postural drop.Absence of postural drop is against dysautonomia. However, symptoms are suggestive for the same.

So,your son first of all needs to undergo physiologic testing for dysautonomia as discussed above. He should undergo-
1)valsalva testing
2)Tilt table test
3)Quantitative sudomotor axonal reflex testing(QSART)

Please visit a lab capable of testing autonomic functions.Once these investigations are done,we can plan further investigations and management accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.
