Question: I have done everything. I have a speech problem, dysphonia, I'm told. Still gotten worse over 2 years. Had 2 MRIs a brain scan been to an EMT had that done as well as been to several therapist. My pop d. Has me on on Zoloft and Xanax. He thinks it may be anxiety. So far that hasn't worked either after two months of use. Everything I've done so far hasn't helped. Please, help!

Brief Answer:
Consider being treated with Botox injections and/or surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Dysphonia may result from laryngeal conditions ( ulcers, polyps, paralysis or cancer of vocal cords ), but also the cause also may be unknown such in cases of spasmodic dysphonia.

Full evaluation includes ENT evaluation with visualization ( laryngoscopya) of the vocal cords, MRI of laryngeal area, etc.

Since antianxety drugs didn't worked and if ENT examination didn't found any laryngeal condition that may justify dysphonia, treatment possibilities include Botox injections and surgery.

It is necessary to discuss with an ENT Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.
