Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection In Infants
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have a. Seven month old baby girl, I feel like her social smile is being used less and less... Should I be concerned?
She is getting over an ear infection. Also last week, I had her in her car seat in car and think her leg buckle might not have been buckled. I am concerned about lack of oxygen or neurological damage that occurred. Is that possible.

Brief Answer:
needs examination by her pediatrician
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You are saying social smile is becoming less!
Check whether she is getting some other interest and whether she is looking at people or things and getting more interested.
I do not think an unbuckled car seat could have caused any problem like low oxygen unless there was some other suffocation.
When in doubt please consult her pediatrician.
That will allay your anxiety also once she is examined by a doctor.
God bless

She was fine when I took her out of car, normal coloring and alert. When I got her into the house, I noticed the bottom buckle was undone. If she had passed out from low oxygen, she would have not looked normal when I took her out, correct?
She actually has been to dr since the happened (for the ear infection) I just forgot to mention it since my husband said I was worried about nothing...lol
What does smiling less mean? She is also sticking out her tongue and making weird faces. When we play with her she smiles and laughs, but just had less spontaneous smiling when I pick her up. Is it too early to worry about autism?

Brief Answer:
hopefully nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Regarding your first question,
Yes she wouldn't have looked normal if there was any problem.
If she was not toppled why she should have any problem at all from leg buckle coming out.
Regarding second question babies interest will vary from time to time.
Her lack of smile may be because of different kind of interest
Try to play with her and stimulate with colourful toys etc and watch.
Autism is difficult to diagnose at this age ad only serial follow up will show.
I pray and wish that she is normal.
As such from your description I think there is no cause to worry.
Good luck
