Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain, Cough And Cold In A Child

Question: Dear doctor, my 7 and half year old daughte has been complaining of left ear pain since 10pm yesterday night. I have put dewax drops 3-4 times till now and pain doesnt seem to reduce. I have given P250 8ml at 1am and doesnot seem to help. Please suggest. Schools are reopening today and i dont know if i can send her ti school today! Any quick remedy that you can suggest that can reduce her pain would be of great help. Thank you very much.

Hi Mam,
I have gone through your query; it suggests that most probably your daughter may be suffering from the acute otitis media( Swelling of the ear drum) of left ear if she is suffering from the cough and cold.

In this condition I personally prescribed
1. Tablet fexofenadine 60 mg once in the day.
2. Nasal decongestant otrivin paediatric nasal drip 3 drops three times a day.
3. Hot fomentation of the left ear as much as possible.
4. Steam inhalation at least three times a day.
