Brief Answer:
About edema

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Can I assume that your edema is in your legs rather than whole body? And how high up on your legs is the edema? Also, is it both legs?

Peripheral edema in one leg can be due to a clot, and the risk for a deep vein clot in a leg is increased with long travel where a person is seated and not moving around. This needs to be checked out because of the risk of the clot going to the lungs.

If the edema is in both legs equally, it can be from poor circulation in the legs, but can also be from congestive heart problems. Liver and kidney disease can cause this too, but usually there are a lot of other symptoms with it.

If the edema is truly 3+ pitting, this is quite sever and I advise that you go in to a reputable clinic there to get this checked out promptly - especially if you have never had anything like this before.
