Suggest Treatment For Elevated BP Levels, Headache And Dizziness

Question: Hi, I am seeing blood pressure readings of 150-180/ 105-108. I am taking metoprolol 25 mg and have a history of elevated blood pressure. 150/105 is abnormal for me. Should I wait to see my doctor at a scheduled appointment next week or should I seek emergency evaluation. I have a strong heartbeat, but no other symptoms (headache, dizzyness, elevated pulse)

As you are a young woman, it is recommended to first exclude possible secondary hypertension, by exploring several lab tests: complete blood count, thyroid, liver, adrenal and renal function tests, etc. You should discuss with your doctor about this issue.

Regarding your actual BP values, I would recommend you to seek medical assistance to your nearest local ER service for a preliminary BP evaluation and modulation of your current therapy. It is necessary to immediately start an effective antihypertensive treatment as those fluctuating BP values may be dangerous.
