Brief Answer:
Avodart will not help

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM

You have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and have had your prostate removed as well as had radiation and hormone therapy. Despite this your PSA continues to elevate. This means there are still some cancer cells and that they are multiplying. You need to continue with you hormone injections. The Avodart will not work as this is not a treatment for prostate cancer. Avodart will reduce the size of a normal prostate but not for prostate cancer.

I know the hormone injections were difficult for you to take but they may offer you some treatment for the prostate cancer. Discuss with your doctor if there are any other options and treatments that may reduce the side effects from hormone therapy.

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your XXXXXXX care concerns and questions.
