Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: I was taking anti tb drugs for 15 days and liver function test now revealed elevated values of sgpt and shot as 399 and 400. It was normal before start of therapy. Also running fever for last 4 days with no symptom of cough cold or else.. Stopped anti tb drugs. Is fever because of elevated values? How long will it take to return to normal values.

Brief Answer:
Yes, fever is due to drug induced Hepatitis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
You are having drug induced Hepatitis.
Anti tubercular drugs like pyrazinamide, rifampicin and isoniazid are hepatotoxic and known to cause drug induced Hepatitis.
So fever is mostly due to this only.
Recovery is expected after 2-3 days of stopping anti tb drugs.
After 2-3 days, enzymes will start reducing and also fever, vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain.
So you can expect recover after 2-2 days of stopping drugs.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
