You should take propanolol on a daily basis, following other advises....
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
After reviewing the data you provided I can confirm that you have isolated stage I diastolic hypertension.
As a first step before discussing about medical treatment I would like to recommended to do the following measures:
- Quit Smoking
- Reduce alcohol intake (to 1-2 drink per day)
- Reduce salt intake
- Eat a healthy diet, reach in fresh fruits, vegetables and poor in animal fatty acids (diary products, red meat etc.)
- Reduce weigh
- Increase physical activity
This measures will help to lower BP and stabilize it and will reduce the dosage of medical treatment.
My opinion is that you should take propanolol regularly on a daily bases till your HR and BP will be stabilized.
If you were my patient I would recommend to take a water pill (Moduretic) instead of valsartan. The combination of betablockers (Propanolol) with diuretics (Moduretic) is more effective in controlling BP and HR.
Since changing therapy may have unwanted effects you should discuss with your treating doctor before doing so.
Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

what dose of Propanolol is recommended for me for BP + heart rate ? I used to take 20mg for fast rate ...shall i increase the dose for Bp treatment ?
Following propanolol dosage...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
If you were my patient I would begin with propanolol 20 mg two times a day in order to control your BP. If these isn't enough to control your BP I would increase the dose to 40 mg two times a day, which is the maintaining dose.
Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
