Question: I had the below parasites that took about 4 months to be diagnosed. I contrscted them about XXXXXXX 1 2015 and they were treated april 30 2015 after they figured out what it was. Shortly after i got pnemonia for the first time in may 2015. Got it again in XXXXXXX 2016 and had brinchitis in april 2016. I also recently had a blood test that showed elevated liver enzymes. Im not s heavy drinker. Could the parasites have caused liver damage which has weakened my immune system?

Brief Answer:
very unlikely they can affect liver or damage liver.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query and reviewed the pictures you uploaded.

Both these parasites ,Dientamoeba fragilis and blastocystis hominis, mainly infects gastro-intestinal tract and very very unlikely they can affect liver or can damage liver.

Also you have been treated for those parasites almost 1 year ago (in April 2015),so I do NOT think there is anything to be concerned about liver damage due to parasites.

But before going further opinion,I will need to know your liver enzymes and other blood tests if you have done.

Liver function tests (especially liver enzymes) are highly sensitive tests and may get easily elevated even by mild drinking or following fatty meal.

Please provide me the blood reports.I will give my opinion after that.
