default
Posted on Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Question: I had a ct scan and an ultra sound due to stomach pains, I was told I had a burst cyst and that where my small and large intestine meet was enlarged, my appendix was slightly enlarged, but not enough for surgery, could this have been caused by the burst cyst?

Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy, diagnostic Laparoscopy; please give full report

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of pain in abdomen.
CT and Ultrasound showing burst cyst and enlargement of where large and small intestines meet with appendix too getting enlarged but not enough for surgery.
This could not have caused by rupture of the cyst.

It is very important to know which cyst they are talking about.
May I please get the whole report, you may please post a scanned copy of the report as it is.

There may be a cause of the enlargement and you need to undergo a Colonoscopy and biopsy SOS (if needed) to get a certain diagnosis.
It is also possible that a diagnostic Laparoscopy helps to get the most proper diagnosis, a chance to for any biopsy or FNAC if required/possible, a direct visualization of the internal structures and to undertake any surgery if deemed so.
Please discuss this with your General Surgeon/Gynecologist.

I hope this answer helps you.
