Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Prostate
Needs Uroflowmetry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You have an enlarged prostate, which is not unusual for a 70+ old male, and by itself does not treatment unless you have symptoms. These could include slow flow of urine, frequency and urgency, sense of not emptying bladder, getting up at nights to void. Under such circumstances, Tam plus could help. One way of knowing if you need this medication is by having a test called Uroflowmetry done, and testing how much urine is residual after voiding. The maximum flow rate is important, and if peak flow rate with a full bladder is over 15ml/sec, you have nothing much to worry about. On the other hand, if flow is slow, say less than 10ml/sec, you will need medicines like Tam plus, and if flow still does not improve, you might even need surgery for prostate.
The heterogeneous architecture si probably not significant, but you could speak to the doctor who suggested Tam plus and find out if there is a real possibility of you having a prostate cancer. If there is any suspicion, get a PSA test done.
Hope I have been of help.
Best wishes.
