Suggest Treatment For Entercutaneous Fistula
Possibility of Entercutaneous fistula
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Sir
A wound persisting for such a long duration following Colostomy Closure following possibility needs to be considered and ruled out
1. Development of Entercutaneous fistula ( communicating track between intestine and skin wound): This is more likely the cause if there is persistent discharge especially fecal from the wound
2. Atypical wound infection
Obesity and presence of excess fat in abdominal wall will lead to delayed wound healing in immediate post operative period. It is unlikely to be the primary cause for wound which has persisted so long.
It would be helpful if you could provide me following additional information
1. Is there any discharge from the wound, if there is discharge what is the nature and quantity of discharge
2. Was any wound culture carried out?
3. Providing clinical photograph will be very helpful.
Do get back to me
Take care
