Suggest Treatment For Erythema Around Tick Bite
Sooner ticks removed, less likely to have disease.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You have given very short history. You have found deer tick on your skin. You have developed erythema around bite. And the tick is removed by your husband.
I would like to say that most ticks don't carry diseases, and most of them don't cause serious health problems. The sooner ticks are removed, the less likely they are to spread disease.
Your husband have removed it from your skin, still I would like to suggest few tips to remove tick from the skin..
1)You may remove a tick by using fine tipped tweezer.
2)If you don't have tweezers, put on gloves and then pick it with your fingers. Remember never handle the tick with bare hands.
3)Put the tick in a dry jar and save it in the freezer for later identification if necessary.
4)Wash the area of the tick bite with a lot of warm water and soap.
5)As you said that there is reddness around bite , after picking the tick you should apply an antibiotic cream like gentamycine or sisomycine and cover it with an adhesive bandage.
6)After removing the tick, wash the hand with antiseptic solution like dettol or savlone.
I would like to give knowledge about diseases transmitted by deer tick..
1)Lyme disease (LD): Lyme disease is an infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, a type of bacterium called a spirochete that is carried by deer ticks.
2)Babesiosis: This disease is carried by deer ticks. Symptoms include a nonproductive cough, headache and increasing malaise. It is a malarialike illness caused by species of the intraerythrocytic protozoan babesia.
3)Tick paralysis is a rare disease thought to be caused by a toxin in tick saliva. The symptoms include acute, ascending, flaccid paralysis.Within 24 hours of removing the tick, the paralysis typically subsides.
I hope you might be satisfied with my answer. You may consult nearby dermatologist.
Still, any query..you are welcome.
Wishing you healthy life.
Thanks.
