Suggest Treatment For Essential Hypertension, AKI, Acute Hyperglycemia And Acute Renal Insufficiency
Question: My husband just got out of the hospital. He was diagnosed with essential hypertension,AKI, acute hyperglycemia, acute renal insufficiency, and dehydration. He hasn't eaten anything since getting home yesterday at 1pm. He has a bad headache, his blood sugar is 303, and his temperature is 100.7. Should I take him back to the emergency room?
Brief Answer:
he should go to the ER
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
fever after coming out of the hospital indicates a hospital acquired infection. Hospital acquired infections are hard (or even impossible) to treat with common antibiotics. I don't know why did they discharge him in the first place but this fever one day after getting out of the hospital could be dangerous. Diabetes and renal failure make things even worse.
So the answer is yes. You should get back to the hospital. Visiting the emergency room as soon as possible would be a good idea.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
