Suggest Treatment For Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
i do not smoke, drink or take nonprescription drugs. when I try to blow and pinch my nose this does nothing. when i pinch my nose and suck in they clear for a minute or two.
before this happened i had a chronic rhinorrea, caused by allergies. only when i got to the building i work in. I was chronically sniffing. that has stopped.
Continue Valsalva.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having ETD (Eustachian tube dysfunction), though it would have been much better if you had described your symptoms in detail.
However without careful examination and hearing test it would be difficult to suggest right treatment options. I am glad you have an ENT appointment coming soon. Until you see the doctor, I suggest the following measures to see if you get better.
1. Stop consuming chilled products (curd/ice creams/citrus containing fruits and juices).
2. Start decongestant xylometazoline (over the counter, brand name Otrivine) nasal drops 3 drops/ 3 time/1 week.
3. Do valsalva manovere exercises ( watch youtube ).
4. Chew chewing gum can be tried (chewing helps in functioning of Eustachian tube).
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
Audiometry.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.
1. In view of side effects, decongesents nasal drops should not be used more than a week.
2. In case of persistent symptoms, You need to undergo audiometry and re- evaluation with an ent surgeon for chronic sinusitis (allergic rhinitis) with Ct scan of para nasal sinuses and nasal endoscopy.
Kindly go ahead.
Take care.
