Suggest Treatment For Excess Saliva, Nausea And Bloating Along With Burping
diet changes, reflux medication needed
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
This may be related to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) , gastritis or PUD (peptic ulcer disease).
GERD is most common. It is one of the most common reasons for the symptoms mentioned.
It is treated mainly with lifestyle changes and medication though some persons require additional investigations and treatment.
Lifestyle changes include: (1) reduction in the size of meals - smaller meals produce less acid and therefore less reflux
(2)reduction in acidic or citric fruits including tomatoes
(3)also reduction in onions, mint, chocolate or caffeine
(4)less frying and no spicy foods
(5)weight loss of any excess weight, excess weight compresses the diaphragm and therefore contributes to reflux
(6) waiting 2 hours after eating before laying down
(7)elevation of the head of the bed to avoid reflux
(8) in addition to the above, there are certain medications that would help eg nexium, protonix, prevacid or prilosec
These are proton pump inhibitors and they reduce or eliminate acid production in the stomach.
These can take 5 to 7 days to start to work because they do not get rid of the acid that is already there in the stomach but stop further production.
If with the diet changes and medication , you are still having problems then your doctor may consider testing for the H pylori bacteria.
The presence of H pylori in the stomach can worsen reflux and the above symptoms.
If found you would need a 2 week course of 2 antibiotics
It is tested by doing a blood test.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questionss
