Question: i am a 73 old female shoo has eaten fairly healthy & worked out for about 35 yrs. My throat is very sore-- been plagued by coughing, & horsiness for past 6 months--some wheezing--My voice has definitely changed--could i have cancer? I have been treated with antibiotics off & on--I get some better but it never goes away
Brief Answer:
Better to go for laryngoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I have gone through your query; and suggest you that you may go for laryngoscopy to rule out cause of your change in voice or to reach the near diagnosis.
Your age and symptoms may be in the favour of throat cancer but it is absolute necessary to go for some test
1. Indirect or direct laryngoscopy.
2. Punch biopsy if needed.
3. Contrast CT Scan of neck if needed.
No need to worry, glottic carcinoma has good prognosis, if you have but that is rare possibility.
Thanks
