Brief Answer:
Depends as noted
Detailed Answer:
HI.
Got the understanding that you have got external hemorrhoids secondary to pregnancy.
Well - you know the diet is not helping and you must have tried so no discussion on this issue - except that you still have to continue high fiber diet to avoid further progress and complications of external hemorrhoids.
In a simple language there are 2 types of hemorrhoids and treatment depends upon the stage/ type.
* an internal hemorrhoid - is the one which is small and never comes out , It may be symptomatic or not at all.
* Interno-external - wherein the hemorrhoid mass come out on straing at moton and goes inside on its own.
* the third- External hemorrhoid- mean the hemorrhoid mass has be prolapsed and comes out and remains so is spite of manual replacement.
This needs Surgery as a rule as there are no medicines which can reduce these. So the treatment is always surgical.
Now-a-days there are 2 types of surgery in vogue-> The classical old style of excision of the hemorrhoid from the root. Although takes time to heal but is very sure-shot treatment.
another is stapler- hemorrhoidectomy. A circular stapler is used from within, it is a day care procedure and healing is fast.
You may please discuss all the possibilities and outcomes with your operating Surgeon.
Ok so maybe its the internal external. Its not painful. But its annoying. So am I a candidate for the rubber band option? What are the risks?
I eat very little processed food and exercise daily. I am not constipated. They look awful however.
Brief Answer:
Surgical excision
Detailed Answer:
Bands are not a good option in interno-external. It has a risk of incomplete coverage in the band, more chances of secondary bleeding after about 12-14 days when the bands fall off. Surgery is a better option.
If you have no medical issues better to go for surgical excision., the results can be long-lasting.
Good that you know the best foods to take and that you are not constipated .
