Suggest Treatment For Extreme Neck Stiffness And Persistent Cough
Question: I I have been diagnosed with UC and prescribed canasa and most recently 3 pills of lialda per day. On the third day of lialda I have extreme stiff neck with extreme pain and a persistent cough. My UC has gone out of control requiring bathroom visits every 20 minutes. Could lialda cause this.
Brief Answer:
Not related to lialda use....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Both canasa and lialda have the same active ingredient called MESALAMINE.
From what you are describing, it seems that your symptoms are not caused by lialda use. I think that mesalamine alone is not helping to dominate your symptoms.
To my opinion, it's time to start steroid medication to control inflammation.
All the best! Let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Brief Answer:
Can start probiotics, but still think to add steroid to your therapy...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
1. Probiotics like VSL3 and Saccromyses Boulardi are good choices for UC flare up. However, I still think you need to add steroid treatment to your therapy in order to increase remission chance.
2. You can discuss with your doctor about colonoscopy to evaluate possible changes in the bowel mucosa.
All the best!
