Suggest Treatment For Extremely Dry Skin During Winters

I moved to a new country and its my first winter here. It gets a bit chilly and I find my hands are very dry and cold and so are my feet. I also find when I get a cut it takes a very long time to heal as compared to normally. My niece scratched me on my hand a couple months ago and i still have a scar there and it took a long time to heal up. Just cut myself on an open can of fruit today. Its only a very small cut maybe 1mm deep and about 4mm in length and it had a lot of blood coming out of it. I put a tissue over it and put pressure but as soon as I take tissue away it bleeds away.. Put a bandaid on it and even after more than an hour or two I took the bandaid off and there is still some blood there, it hadn't dried up or clotted. I find that very odd. Usually cuts like this just clot up in a few minutes for me. Can this be related to the weather? Should I be worried?
I suggest a moisturizer+a cream formulation of topical steroid & antibiotic
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have noted down your concern.
The skin on your hands obviously seems to be affected by dry and chilly weather which can suck out all moisture from skin. Soaps and repeated washing of hands can worsen the condition.
Sometimes, extreme dryness can also lead to cracks and fissuring of skin of hands which might even bleed.
Extremely dry skin is fragile and may crack and bleed on minor trauma.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use a good moisturizer frequently. This would certainly help.
A cream containing a potent topical steroid and a topical antibiotic, within the same formulation (e.g a combination cream formulation containing clobetasol propionate 0.05% and fusidic acid 2%) may be used twice daily to help heal cracks and fissures.
