Suggest Treatment For Eye Fatigue, Nausea And Vertigo While Using The Computer
Typing this message has felt horrible. Is this something you see a doctor about, or do I just need to wait and rest my eyes for more days?
Detailed answer and explanations given below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Using computer and screens for a long time can cause some symptoms with the eyes and the most common one is eye fatigue. In your case the symptoms don't seem to be related to it as eye fatigue would cause eye burning, redness, tearing, headache and blurry vision which does not seem to be the symptoms you are having. It is eye fatigue that will improve with rest and good computer use hygiene.
In your case very likely the cause of the symptoms is visual vertigo which causes dizziness and related symptoms when we quickly move the eyes or scan around us. Very rarely other more important conditions of the inner ear or brain can be the cause of vertigo.
To conclude I would say:
- Your symptoms don't seem typical of eye fatigue and because rest did not help very likely this is not the cause of your symptoms
- I would recommend you to see your doctor and have a general and neurological examination to rule out important causes of vertigo related to the inner ear or brain
- The most likely cause of your symptoms is visual vertigo that is generally diagnosed after ruling out the above causes (examination with the doctor). Medications to help quiet down the vestibular system (inner ear) and exercises can be tried to help with it but after the doctor has ruled out other causes.
I hope I have answered to your question but please let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
