Suggest Treatment For Eye Irritation And Drainage In An Infant

Question: One-month-old baby with some eye drainage, the side corners of eyes are re irritated and even sometimes yellow. Other then warm water on a clean cotton ball is there something else you can suggest to help. Questioning the use of pure rosewater on cotton all, maybe to help clean and heal?

What I can make out from your statement is that there is discharge from the eye.What you have to inform us is that is it only in one eye or both the eyes?
what is needed is antibiotic eye drops 3to4times a day.This antibiotic can be gentamycin,Tobramycin or moxifloxcin.It will take 4to5days for things to clear off.

The drainage is in both eyes. The baby is just under a month old. The pediatric Doctor said to only use warm water and cotton balls. Now 5 days later. Her eyes are still gooey and the outside crease of the eye is getting raw and irritated from drainage laying in the fold. I guess I was just wondering if something OTC other then water might benefit her, you mention antibiotic drops. And that will have to be ordered by a doctor!

There are various antibiotics available. Neosporine eye ointment is available which can be applied twice a day and will be very helpful.
Since it has been 5days so some action has to be taken.
Check in your local pharmacy as to the type of antibiotic drops or ointment and get back to me for preferences.
